this is how to make your own protein bars recipe at home, another good recipe if you like to be adventurous with your whey protein powder, and like to eat it rather then just drink it all the time.
you will need to be a decent cook to do this, and have experience of cooking/baking, but if you know how this could save you money on the regular store type bought bars, and they might also be more healthy and nutritious as well.
Energy Booster Bars
Makes 15 bars
1 cup quick-cooking oats
½ cup unsalted sunflower seeds
1 cup whey protein powder, unflavored or vanilla-flavor (about 4 scoops)
½ cup whole wheat flour
1 3rd of cup sliced almonds
2 tbsp ground flax seed
½ cup dried blueberries or cherries
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 3rd of cup pure maple syrup
¼ cup mini-chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350˚F.Coat a pan with vegetable oil cooking spray.
2. Combine oats, sunflower seeds, whey protein powder, flour, almonds, flax seed, and dried blueberries in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped; transfer to a medium bowl. For chunky bars, just combine ingredients in a medium bowl.
3. Whisk together the oil, syrup, and eggs and add to the oatmeal mixture. Stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Add chocolate chips and stir.
4. Gently press into greased pan; batter will be sticky. Bake until lightly browned around the edges, about 15–20 minutes. Cool and cut into 15 bars (1½˝ x 4˝).
